GA-Z87X-OC Hackintosh Guide

What we need?

8 GB Flash Drive or Higher
A working Mac or Hackintosh Machine
Sierra Operating System
Windows 10 Operating System

First!

Download the Operating System on the Apps Store (not on any other site).
Next, we need to create a bootable USB. Download Unibeast 7 from TonymacX86 (you need to create an account in order to download this).

Once you have all those program, Plug in your USB and open your Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility or search it using spotlight that can be found on the top right.
On disk utility, Highlight your USB. Next, Click on top middle says Erase. Pop up window will comes up. Put a name you want. Next, on format Highlight OS X Extended (Journaled). On Scheme GUID Partition Map. Once its all ok, Hit erase.

USB Installer

Run Unibeast. Click continue until you reach Destination.
Next, Highlight your USB and click continue.
On installation type, highlight Sierra.
Bootloader Configuration, for my set up. I am going to choose legacy boot mode.
Installation, Verify and check if you have all in order. Click continue, Enter your password and hit install. This will take 15 to 25 mins defends on how fast is your system and your flash drive. Last, download multibeast for sierra and Nvidia web driver for sierra 10.12.6 then copy or drag to your USB installer. You need this later.

BIOS Setting

This setting has to be set in order to boot the USB that we created while ago.
Press and hold delete key on your keyboard will the computer is booting up.
Next, go all the way to the end and highlight “load optimized defaults” and hit enter then yes.
Then, go to bios features and look for “boot mode selection”. Hit enter and choose “legacy only”.
Save and exit and we are coming back to this settings later.

Mac OS X Sierra on first SSD

First i do is to remove my other hard drive and run only one hard drive to make it easy for my side. Next, plug your USB installer and hit the power. Once the computer start, hit F12 (if you are on gigabyte MOBO) so that you will be on the option to choose which one is to be booted. For my side, my usb name is Sandisk. Highlight and hit enter. Once you reach on clover, press space bar and check verbose. The “set nvidia to VESA” is default so don’t uncheck it. If its not check on your side, go ahead and check it out. Next, highlight “Boot MAC OS X on selected option” and hit enter. The reason why i always use verbose, just to make sure that the first boot load is not stuck on something or not having a kernel panic.

On the welcome installation, click continue. Next, look on the top and highlight utilities and click disk utilities. Now on a new window, highlight your hard drive. This drive is where you will install your MAC OS X. Highlight the name of the hard drive and on the top middle. Click erase, on a new window. Put a name (any name you want). Format: choose OS X Extended (Journaled) Scheme: GUID Partition Map then hit ERASE. Once the format is done, click done and close disk utilities. Keep going until you reach “install Mac OS X”. Highlight your hard drive that you format and continue. Now, wait for about 15 to 25 mins to be finish. Once its finish, the system will auto restart.

Hit F12 again and choose your USB. On Clover, you need to choose where you install MAC OS X and hit space bar. Then check again verbose plus the default “set nvidia to VESA” and hit enter. Once you reach on welcome page, follow until you successfully config your mac. Now to make this fully working. We need to install drivers. Open your multibeast (downloaded early).

On quick start–>>choose legacy boot mode.

Driver under audio–>>Realtek ALCxx–>>check ALC 898

Driver under network–>>Atheros–>>check AtherosE2200Enternet v2.0.1

Driver under network–>>Intel–>>check AppleIntelE1000e v3.2.4.2

Customize under graphic Configuration–>>check Nvidia Web drivers boot flag

Next, hit build and install. This will take a few mins. Once its done, don’t restart your computer. We still need one more driver (this is optional, if you use integrated. If not. Then, you don’t need this). Driver for our graphic card GPU.

Open or run Nvidia driver and follow the instruction. Once this driver is installed, it will ask to restart. Before you hit restart, remove first your USB then hit the restart button. Now, you have a fully working mac. For facetime and imessage Its not working on my side, There are still some work around on the web to make this work but for my side i don’t need it so no need for me to find a solution.

Windows 10 on Second SSD

Before we begin, we need to remove the first hard drive (MAC OS X). I know, this is kind a too much work but this is the only way not to make our first install (MAC OS X) not being mess up by windows or windows maybe installed on first hard drive. Theres a lot of consequence that may happen and its happen to me many times. Anyway, before you hit the power. Plug your USB windows installer or a dvd installer then turn on the power. Let it run and once you reach on welcome screen. Just follow the instruction. Once you reach on “which type of installation do you want?” choose custom. Next, you will see hard drive. Highlight the hard drive that you want the windows to be installed and click format. For my side i have only one because this hard drive is new. Then, click continue. Keep following until it started to install. Once its done and you are already in the system, install all of your drivers and other.

Plug your first Hard Drive (don’t forget to remove power), then turn on the power. Hit “delete” key on your keyboard to enter bios settings (gigabyte Motherboard). Go on the bios features and check if your first boot is MAC OS X. If not make it first, If you still see few of MAC OS X in the drop down list, do on the second boot. Then, the last is your hard drive. On my side its on PO:0, this is where i install MAC OS X. Save and exit then there you go. You have your MAC and Windows working. To go on the windows, just press any key on your keyboard once you are on clover countdown. Then, press left or right and highlight the windows logo and press enter. On MAC, No need to do any thing. Just let the system run.

On system time, mac is going to give you the right one but on windows. Its kind a somewhere else. To make this system time fix, Click this link and it will give you details to fix it.
